Anxiety
Depth therapy in Vancouver for anxiety that keeps running in the background — even when, on paper, everything is fine.
Sound familiar?
You can look calm and capable while your mind never stops running.
The thoughts spin — what-ifs, worst cases, conversations rehearsed that may never happen. You're often a step ahead, anticipating and bracing. Maybe it lives in your body too: the tight chest, the shallow sleep, the restlessness you can't quite name. And maybe no one around you would guess, because technically you keep holding it together.
You've tried the breathing apps and the coping tips, and they help in the moment. But the anxiety keeps returning, because it was never really about this email or that deadline.
What's underneath
Anxiety isn't just your brain malfunctioning. It's often a protector — a part of you working overtime to keep you safe, in control, or one step ahead of some feared outcome. Underneath the worry there's frequently something more tender: an old fear, an unmet need, a vulnerability that has never felt safe to feel.
I treat the anxiety as meaningful information rather than as the enemy. We get curious about what it's trying to manage, what it's afraid would happen if it stopped, and what you might need that you've been overriding.
How I work
We'll use grounding and nervous-system tools where they help — feeling steadier matters, and we won't skip that. But the deeper work is understanding what the anxiety has been protecting, so that it no longer has to work so hard.
I draw on EFT, AEDP, and EMDR, and we move at a pace that feels safe. The aim isn't to white-knuckle the worry into submission — it's to need it less.
Where this leads
Clients describe more space between themselves and the spiral — the thoughts still come, but they stop running the show. You can rest without bracing, recognize your triggers for what they are, and respond rather than react. Life gets a little more livable, and a little more yours.
